Muthukandiya Tank

Monaragala is a district which possesses a highly developed irrigation system in Sri Lanka. Muthukandiya tank can be identified as one of the most colourful tanks available in the Monaragala district. This tank which belongs to the Madulla Pradeshiya Sabha area widely contributes for the economic development of the people in this area in different ways. It helps people to accomplish their water requirements for agriculture and helps promotion of fresh water fisheries industry in the area. In addition to this, the tank and the area has become a place mostly visited by both local and foreign tourists subsequent to the end of the civil war prevailed in the country for more than three decades. 



Therefore, it can be recognized as a place worth visiting by the tourists located in the Madulla Pradeshiya Sabha domain. If you want to reach this tank first you have to come to Obbegoda junction by travelling 8 kilo meters from Monaragala and then you shall turn right from the said junction and travel 19 kilo meters ahead in Mariarawa road till you find Mariarawa junction. Then you shall turn left from the Mariarawa junction and travel 02 kilo meters and reach Polgahagama junction and turn left from the said junction and walk around 09 kilo meters in Ampara road. Then you will find this marvelous tank called Muthukandiya.
