Boburu Fall
Boburu Fall
Bomburu Falls or Perawella Falls is located in the Uva Paranagama Divisional Secretariat Division close to the Badulla Nuwara Eliya District Boundary. This waterfall is also considered to be the widest waterfall in Sri Lanka. This beautiful Bomburu Falls is located in the Sita Eliya Kandapola Reserve in the village of Perawella, about 15 km from Welimada. This waterfall is created by the Dulgala river which is considered to be another tributary of the Mahaweli river and divides into four parts by a rock plateau. The height of the falls is about 50 meters and the width is about 20 meters. Sources say that the lower part of the waterfall is called Uma Oya.
If you are coming from Kandy to Welimada via Nuwara Eliya, those coming from Colombo should come to Bandarawela and from there to Welimada first. There is a bus from Welimada town to Bomburu Falls via Uduhawara. If you come by your own vehicle, after passing Ambagasdowa Junction, Himbiliyagahamaditta Mudanawa Junction on the Uva Paranagama Road for about 11 km, you will find the footpath leading to Bomburu Ella. If you are going to this waterfall, ask the villagers for details. After about 2 km along the footpath you will find this waterfall. The road is surrounded by beautiful fields and bushes. This trip is full of my leeches so get ready for it and go.
This biodiversity hotspot is also known as a hunting ground during the English period. The sound of the waterfall is loud and the dew rising from it is about 30 meters away. Below the waterfall is a suitable place for you to bathe. The waterfall is even more beautiful when the fog rises to the top of Bomburu Falls. Of course, no matter how much you look at this waterfall, you will not be disappointed. This waterfall is so spectacular.
It is said that a legend associated with the elephant of King Rajasinghe II at that time is associated with the village where this waterfall is located. However, this waterfall is still unknown to many tourists in Sri Lanka. We have heard that the beautiful environment is being destroyed as many people are going to visit this bomb waterfall now. So go visit this beautiful waterfall too. But never destroy the beautiful environment around it.
