Maha Gandharva of the Hela Dr. Pandith W.  D.  Amaradeva Dr. Pandith W., who is known as the Great Gandharva of the Hela. D. Amaradeva Shureen has passed away. Amaradeva Shureen was admitted to the Sri Jayewardenepura Hospital due to a sudden heart attack (Nov. 3) and passed away while receiving treatment at the Intensive Care Unit. He was 88 years old at the time of his death. W. D. Amaradeva is a respected artist who nurtured the field of Sinhala music with North Indian Ragadhari music. Born in Moratuwa on December 5, 1927, Don Albert Perera, a short-lived carpenter from Wanakkuwatta, is best known in Sri Lanka as the famous singer and musician by his given name Amaradeva. Hydro power plants in Sri Lanka                       *Victoria The Victoria Reservoir was built across the Mahaweli River and the Victoria Dam was built for the Victoria Reservoir. The dam and tunnel were built by Balfor Beatty and Edmund Natal, a British joint venture. The dam is 122 meters high, 520 meters long, 6 meters wide and 25 meters wide. It was inaugurated in 1985 by then President J.R. Jayewardene. The Victoria Reservoir was created by the dam, which covers an area of ​​22.7 square kilometers, has a water capacity of 722,000,000 cubic meters and a catchment area of ​​1869 square kilometers. The water from the reservoir is carried to the power plant by a 5646 meter long tunnel. It has three port doors with a diameter of 6.2 m each, which create a net water pressure of 190 m and discharge water to three turbines. Boburu Fall

Boburu Fall Bomburu Falls or Perawella Falls is located in the Uva Paranagama Divisional Secretariat Division close to the Badulla Nuwara Eliya District Boundary.  This waterfall is also considered to be the widest waterfall in Sri Lanka.  This beautiful Bomburu Falls is located in the Sita Eliya Kandapola Reserve in the village of Perawella, about 15 km from Welimada.  This waterfall is created by the Dulgala river which is considered to be another tributary of the Mahaweli river and divides into four parts by a rock plateau.  The height of the falls is about 50 meters and the width is about 20 meters.  Sources say that the lower part of the waterfall is called Uma Oya.  If you are coming from Kandy to Welimada via Nuwara Eliya, those coming from Colombo should come to Bandarawela and from there to Welimada first.  There is a bus from Welimada town to Bomburu Falls via Uduhawara.  If you come by your own vehicle, after passing Ambagasdowa Junctio...
